Strengths Week Needs You
The Strengths Based Initiatives department in the Division of Student Affairs is seeking students, faculty and staff to help plan the activities for Strengths Week 2015. The University of Arkansas utilizes an online assessment tool known as Strengths Quest to enhance academic success, career development, and leadership for faculty, staff, and students.
“The entire University of Arkansas community can flourish by adopting this positive psychology assessment,” said Adrain Smith, director of Strengths Based Initiatives. “We know that working from a strengths standpoint enhances engagement and helps people understand their natural talents.”
Strengths Week Committee Members will work to facilitate the planning and executing of Strengths Week 2015. While the Strengths Based Initiatives Office has hosted Strengths Weeks in the past, this is a new opportunity for a committee to develop events, activities, programs, and presentations to take place throughout the week. Strengths aims to enhance engagement of the entire community. Committee members are able to provide insight into selecting events that will benefit the entire community by serving on the first Strengths Week Committee. Applications are available for students, faculty, and staff members and can be accessed online.
This professional opportunity provides leadership development and event planning experience that is practical to many fields. If selected, you will have the opportunity to apply for Strengths Week Committee Chairman after serving on the committee for one year. Other benefits of serving on the committee include deepening your understanding of your own strengths and talents by fully engaging with the campus community.
Applications must be submitted to the Strengths Based Initiatives office, Arkansas Union Room A682 no later than 5 p.m. on Friday Nov. 14. For further information about responsibilities and dates please pick up an application today. Contact talent@uark.edu with any questions about Strengths at the University of Arkansas.
