Supervisors, Managers to Learn People Management Skills at November Conference in Springdale
ROGERS, Ark. – Registration is open for a day-long training conference in November for supervisors and managers to update their people management skills and share ideas.
The Northwest Arkansas Human Resources Association (NOARK) is partnering with the University of Arkansas Global Campus to present “SuperCon 2014: A Conference for Supervisors and Managers” from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Holiday Inn and Convention Center, 1500 S. 48th St., Springdale.
Participants can register online. Those who register prior to the event will pay $99 per individual, $79 for each person within a group of two or more, or $39 for students. The cost is $119 per person at the door. Lunch and a continental breakfast are included.
The conference will provide timely, relevant information for organizational supervisors and managers, and the opportunity to network with peers and leaders. Topics range from workforce development and conflict management to wage and hour laws and risk management.
“Utilizing best practice people management skills is critical to the success of any business or organization,” said Judith Tavano, conference chair. “This conference delivers that knowledge at an affordable cost.”
Tavano is a senior professional in human resources and the director of professional development programs at the Global Campus.
About 125 people attended the conference last year, and about 200 are expected to benefit from this year’s program. The conference has expanded and offers three tracks of breakout sessions and four general sessions. The tracks are tailored for entry-level supervisors, experienced supervisors and managers, and organizational leaders.
“It’s a jam-packed day of learning for supervisors and managers,” said Cliff Sandsmark, a senior professional in human resources and president of NOARK.
Mike Malone, president and chief executive officer of the Northwest Arkansas Council, will present the luncheon keynote session: “Leading in One of the Nation’s Fastest-Growing Metropolitan Areas.” The luncheon is open to all NOARK members.
Other general sessions address the importance of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, bullying in the workplace, and six competencies of a “winning coach.”
Conference sponsors include AMSCO, Holiday Inn, The Job Guide, KUAF National Public Radio, Legacy Capital Group, McKee Foods and the U of A Global Campus.
NOARK, providing service to the human resources community of Northwest Arkansas since 1971, is a nonprofit organization with membership of more than 350 human resource professionals from more than 175 companies.
The Global Campus collaborates with academic colleges and schools, businesses and organizations to provide professional development, computer training and workforce development training.
