Ebola, avian flu, cholera, Hendra virus, SARS – take a closer look at pandemics and epidemics affecting people around the world and what they mean to us in Northwest Arkansas. The University of Arkansas award-winning Science Café: Food For Thought will focus on “Global Epidemics” on Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Fayetteville.

Tameka A. Bailey, a visiting assistant professor of biological sciences at the University of Arkansas, and Dr. Steve Hennigan, an infectious disease specialist, will speak as part of a panel discussion from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Powerhouse restaurant.

The event is free and open to the public. Food and drink can be purchased during the forum.

Science Café is sponsored by the University of Arkansas STEM Center for Math and Science Education, the U of A Chapter of Sigma Xi research society, and the Arkansas Biosciences Institute.
