Join the University Recreation staff for the annual UREC Bash. The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building.

UREC Bash is a free event and provides an opportunity for students and the university community to tour the HPER facility, learn about club and intramural sports, climb the bouldering wall and take group fitness demos. Participants can also try their hand at crate stacking, which will be held in front of the new state-of-the-art climbing wall in Gym 1. There will be food, games, a photo booth and giveaways including the official UREC Bash T-shirt, a beanbag toss set and a chance to win an iPad Air.

"This is my favorite event of the year,” said Lindsay Smith, assistant director of marketing and public relations for University Recreation. “The HPER is buzzing with excitement and energy from all of the students which makes it really fun.”

Group fitness demos will be held every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30 p.m. in HPER 220.The schedule is as follows:

  • 5:30 – 6 p.m.: Total Body Conditioning
  • 6 – 6:30 p.m.: Zumba
  • 6:30 – 7:00 p.m.: INSANITY
  • 7 – 7:30 p.m.: PiYo
  • 7:30 – 8 p.m.: Hip Hop

"UREC Bash is one of the most fun events that the university offers, and I make sure to go every year," said Ayla Dharamsey, senior fine arts major. “Hopefully I win the free iPad Air this year!”
