Richardson Receives Accounting Association Best Paper Award

Vernon J. Richardson, the S. Robson Walton Chair and Distinguished Professor of Accounting at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, and four colleagues received the 2014 Accounting Horizons Best Paper Award at the 2014 American Accounting Association annual meeting.
Richardson; Guido L. Geerts, a professor at the Lerner College of Business at the University of Delaware; Lynford E. Graham, a visiting professor at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts; Elaine G. Mauldin, an associate professor in the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri; and William E. McCarthy, a professor at Michigan State University; received the award for their article, “Integrating Information Technology into Accounting Research and Practice."
They received a unique glass art piece and a $2,500 prize at the meeting held Aug. 6 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Richardson received his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Illinois. He has served as editor of The Accounting Review and as associate editor of MIS Quarterly. He has published in The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, MIS Quarterly, the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Operations Management. His research is at the cross-section of accounting, finance and information systems and generally considers the financial antecedents and consequences of information technology investments.
The Accounting Horizons Best Paper Award is presented to the best paper published each calendar year. The award winner is selected by online voting open to all Accounting Horizons subscribing members of the American Accounting Association.
