The Razorback Readership Program is one of the flagship programs within Associated Student Government. The program started in 2006 and is funded by the student activity fee, with ASG managing the program. Today, the Razorback Readership Program brings prominent publications such as USA Today, The New York Times, and the Northwest Arkansas Times/Arkansas Democrat-Gazette to campus for students, Monday through Friday.

Recent budget cuts to the Readership Program will result in changes to the program for the upcoming year. These changes include a consolidation of locations across campus, limiting the number of papers put out daily, and dissolving distribution during both finals week and summer.  Newspapers will no longer be located at Pomfret Hall, Old Main, Law School, Garland Bookstore,  Founders Hall or Hotz Hall. These locations were identified as having daily low pickup rates, on average, less than five papers a day. As a result, newspapers that were once in these locations will be distributed to the remaining, high traffic 14 locations across campus.

“The Razorback Readership Program has taken significant cuts over the years from the Programs Allocation Board. In order to fulfill need and utilize funds appropriately, we had to make appropriate adjustments, which included dissolving finals week and summer distribution, consolidating locations, and limiting number of papers put out daily. We wanted to make the student body aware of these changes,” said ASG President Daniel McFarland. “We hope students will adjust accordingly and still participate in the program. These were difficult decisions, but, we made them to ensure that product is available in key locations throughout the highly busy fall and spring semesters.”

Students can read free online editions of The New York Times, as well as download the free USA Today app. Information on this can be found at the Razorback Readership program page.

Newspapers are available for pick-up at the following locations:

  • Arkansas Union (2 locations)
  • Bus Transit Station
  • Brough Commons
  • Northwest Quad outside of Fulbright Dining Hall
  • Bell Engineering
  • Graduate Education Building
  • J.B. Hunt
