Deadline July 21 for Patterson Teacher-Education Scholarship

The deadline for incoming freshmen at the University of Arkansas to apply for the James Patterson Teacher Education Scholarship is Monday, July 21.

James Patterson, internationally acclaimed New York Times best-selling author, established the scholarship last academic year for eight incoming freshmen planning to major in elementary education. He created an additional eight teacher-education scholarships this fall at the University of Arkansas.

Recipients will receive $6,000 each for the 2014-15 academic school year. In order to be eligible, a student must be enrolled full time in an education program in the College of Education and Health Professions and have expressed an interest in pursuing a career as an elementary school teacher with a focus on reading and literacy.
