New Wireless Networks Available Starting July 16

The IT Services Network Engineering Team is expanding and renaming UA Secure and UA Wireless networks to provide a better user experience by clarifying the purpose and use of each wireless network.

On Wednesday, July 16, wireless users will no longer have access to UA Secure and UA Wireless and will need to select one of the following: UARK 5G Wi-Fi, UARK 2G Wi-Fi or UARK Guest Wi-Fi. The eduroam wireless network will also be available for visitors from participating eduroam institutions.

UARK 5G Wi-Fi is a secure wireless network that requires a UARK username and password. It is the preferred network for students, faculty and staff due to its higher speed and reliability. UARK 5G Wi-Fi will not initially be available in all campus buildings and may not appear on incompatible mobile devices.

UARK 2G Wi-Fi is also a secure wireless network that requires a UARK username and password. It will be available anywhere on campus for any device; however, users are encouraged to choose UARK 5G Wi-Fi when it is available.

UARK Guest Wi-Fi can be used by anyone on campus with any valid email address, but it is not secure and does not allow access to all online services.

Instructions for connecting to the new secure networks are available at techarticles.uark.edu/wireless.
