Global Campus Facility in Rogers Launches Website to Showcase Classes, Services, Meeting Space

ROGERS, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Global Campus facility in Rogers has launched its own website – training.uark.edu – to showcase academic classes, meeting space, computer training and professional development.

The Rogers facility, located at 3300 Market St. in the World Trade Center Building, provides high-quality academic and training programs expected from a top research institution. The new website will showcase classes and workshops developed by subject matter experts – industry, training and academic experts – and supported by instructional designers and technology specialists from the university. Some workforce programs are open to the public, but others are designed specifically for companies or organizations.

“We are bringing the quality of academic and training programs, as well as the technical expertise and technology in our facilities, that are needed to enhance workforce development and support economic development,” said Javier Reyes, vice provost for distance education.

Program developers seek partnerships with corporations, organizations and small businesses to enhance the development of tailored programs. The new website will help facilitate such collaborations.

 “We are pleased to provide students and clients with a website that will make it easy to access our services and expertise,” said Tara Dryer, director of training, corporate development and academic outreach. “Using photos, descriptions and detailed information, we want to provide everything needed by those who want to take classes or reserve meeting space here.”

The Rogers facility launched the website in advance of a promotional campaign to reintroduce its services and space to the Rogers area, following a reorganization that brought the computer training and professional development units from Fayetteville to Rogers.

The new website, launched last week, showcases the professional development network’s workshops for business and human resource professionals, as well as the computer training network’s one-day, hands-on Adobe and Microsoft software classes that are taught by certified instructors.

 “Moving the computer training unit to the Rogers area brought us closer to many of our clients who request on-site, customized training, like J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.,” said Mike Sypult, director of computer training services. “We still offer one-day classes in both Rogers and Fayetteville to make access as convenient as possible.”

The computer training network also uses a mobile computer lab to deliver on-site, customized staff training for businesses and organizations. Certification testing is available to those who want quantitative proof of their software knowledge.

The professional development network collaborates with the Society for Human Resource Management, university and industry experts, and area organizations to provide timely workshops to help business professionals refresh their skills, update their knowledge and stay competitive. Some classes are also offered online.

“Our clients understand the value of keeping up with changing regulations, business trends and strategic practices,” said Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs. “Our workshops help business professionals stay competitive and their organizations remain current with compliance standards.”

Tavano and her team also provide customized workplace training and preparatory workshops for those studying for certification exams.

The Rogers facility is equipped with a student computer lab, instructional technology and video streaming capabilities.

The Global Campus in Fayetteville supports the university’s academic colleges and schools in the development and delivery of online and distance education programs and courses. It provides instructional design services, access to national distance education organizations, technology services, and assistance with strategic academic program development and marketing.
