Brittney Brown, a junior economics major at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, has been accepted into the American Economic Association summer training program.

The five-week program hosted by the department of economics and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at the University of New Mexico runs from June 16 to July 27.

The summer training program began in 1974. It is a six-week intensive curriculum designed to introduce talented undergraduate students to the skills and research methods that students need in preparation for doctoral study in economics.

Brittney was awarded a fellowship that covered all costs plus a $3,000 stipend.

The intensive program helps undergraduates strengthen math skills necessary for economics study at a doctoral level, design and implement a team research project with expert guidance, study in a mutually-supportive team and create a network of future professional contacts.
