Business Students Visit Tyson's Research and Development Center
Tyson Mentoring Program students and Walton College's Office of Diversity & Inclusion staff members visited Tyson's Research and Development Center on March 12.
Five freshman, sophomore and junior business students visited Tyson Foods Inc. corporate headquarters in Springdale, Ark., on March 12. The visit was part of the Tyson Mentoring Program, a partnership that the office of diversity and inclusion in the Sam M. Walton College of Business has with Tyson Foods. The mentoring partnership is a four-year program for students who attended the Business Leadership Academy and seeks to help participants develop leadership and teamwork skills.
During the March 12 visit, students attended a presentation on Tyson’s Research and Development Center and learned the process behind taking new food products from concept to production. Students also had the chance to view the center’s development and innovation facilities, including home and commercial test kitchens and the company’s 40,000-square-foot pilot plant. The tour ended with a sensory experience taste-test, where students had the chance to evaluate a new food product.
The visit is the second Tyson Mentoring Program event of the semester. The next event will be held in April.
