Dr. Douglas G. Hayes

Douglas G. Hayes, professor of biosystems engineering at the University of Tennessee, will present a seminar at the department of food science from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, March 20, on ‘Green’ Manufacturing of Food Emulsifiers.

Hayes received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University in 1986 and doctoral degree at the University of Michigan in 1991. His experience includes research assistant, Universal Oil Products; research chemist, USDA; and faculty positions at the University of Alabama, Huntsville, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

His research focuses on microemulsions; enzymatic reactions in nonaqueous media; biological, lipid, and polymer separations; biopolymers; biobased products from lipids and lignocellulosics; and lipid chemistry.

Everyone is welcome to attend the seminar which will be held in Room D-2 of the FDSC building, 2650 N. Young Ave.
