FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Students pursing degrees in science who are interested in learning about international study and research are invited to attend a faculty-led panel discussion at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in room 402 of the Science and Engineering Building.

Faculty members will explore the importance of studying internationally and how the experience can improve education in fields such as biology, chemistry, health professions and more.

Panelists will also address their participation in and experience with faculty-led study abroad programs around the world and personal international research. The panel will answer any student questions, as well as provide materials for some of the study abroad programs discussed.

Participating faculty members include:

  • Neil Allison, Liebot Chair of Premedical Sciences and associate professor in the department of chemistry and biochemistry. Allison works with the Health Teams Abroad in Sweden program.
  • Leah Jean Henry, associate professor in the department of health, human performance and recreation. Henry works with the University Studies Abroad Consortium and Belize Project.
  • Jeanne Ruth McLachlin, clinical assistant professor in the department of biological sciences and associate director of the premedical program. McLachlin works with the Health Teams Abroad in Sweden program.
  • Kimberly Smith, University Professor in the department of biological sciences. Smith works with the Community Development in Belize program.

The event is hosted by the college outreach program in the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange. It is open to all interested students, but space is limited. Early arrival is recommended.
