Georgia Tech Psychology Professor to Deliver Talk on Memory
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Audrey Duarte, an assistant professor of psychology at Georgia Tech, is the latest speaker in the department of psychological science's Human Neuroscience Speaker Series.
Duarte will deliver a lecture titled, “Interactions Between Attention and Short and Long-Term Memory in the Young and Old.” Her talk is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, in Room 113 in Memorial Hall.
Duarte is a researcher in the Memory and Aging Lab in the Center for Advanced Brain Imaging at Georgia Tech.
“Surprisingly little is known about the neural mechanisms underlying the interaction between attention and memory,” Duarte wrote in a description of her presentation. “Furthermore, substantial debate exists as to whether age-related dysfunction in attentional control contributes to older adults’ memory impairments. I will present data from recent studies from my lab in which we address these issues.”
