Students and staff gathered at the end of January to call the Hogs – but this time, they were calling to say thanks! During the semi-annual Thank You Power Hour, 30 volunteers took to the phones and called a record 1,073 donors to thank them for their generous support of the YOU of A.

The event is hosted by the office of annual programs within university development.

“This was our ninth Thank You Power Hour and our best yet,” said Rachel Krest, director. “We called Annual Fund donors from Arkansas all the way to Alaska, including 390 alumni, friends and parents who made their very first gift this year. It’s so important to show our gratitude, and it’s inspiring to see just how many people love the U of A and choose to give back!”

Carri Warford, administrative support supervisor in university development, was the winner of the Golden Phone Award for most donors thanked during the hour.

“Participating in the Thank You Power Hour gives me a chance to interact with donors, which is not what I do in my day-to-day job,” said Warford. “I enjoy the sound in the donor’s voice when they realize all I’m calling for is to say thank you.”

Thank You Power Hour is held annually in January and July. Want to join in the fun next time? Let us know by calling 575-2280 or emailing merin@uark.edu.
