Alumnus Lt. Gen. Martin R. Steele, USMC Retired, to Speak at Dallas Banquet

The Dallas Regional Network of the Arkansas Alumni Association cordially invites alumni and friends to the 2014 Dallas Banquet on Tuesday, March 25 at the Bent Tree Country Club. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Lt. Gen. Martin R. Steele B.A.’74, U.S. Marine Corps Retired, will be the featured speaker. Raised in Fayetteville, Steele rose from private to three-star general, culminating his military career as the deputy chief of staff for plans, policies and operations at U.S. Marine Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C., in 1999. He is a recognized expert in the integration of all elements of national power with strategic military war plans and has served as an executive strategic planner/policy director in multiple theaters across Asia. Upon his retirement, he served as president and chief executive officer of the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, the largest naval museum in the world. Steele is an A-plus life member and past national board member of the Arkansas Alumni Association, the 2009 Johnson Fellow, a 2013 Citation of Distinguished Alumni recipient.

The cost to attend the banquet is $45 per person or $35 per person for University of Arkansas graduates from 2003-2013. Proceeds from the event support the network’s scholarship fund benefitting University of Arkansas students from north Texas.
