FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The School of Social Work in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host a Bachelor of Social Work orientation from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in rooms 512-514 of the Arkansas Union. Light refreshments will be served.

“The B.S.W. orientation provides social work majors early in their educational experience an opportunity to begin to identify with the social work profession and the responsibilities of a professional degree,” said Scott Burcham, director of the bachelor of social work program.

Representatives from student social work organizations, University Libraries, the Fulbright College Advising Center and the School of Social Work will be included in the program led by Burcham.

“It’s a great time to meet other B.S.W. students with whom you may not have class,” said Tina Smith, former president of Phi Alpha National Honor Society for social work. “You also get to hear from social work student groups Phi Alpha, SWAG (Social Work Action Group) and NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) and learn how to get plugged in.”

The event is designed to educate those interested in the bachelor of social work program. The sequence of courses and the application to the core will be outlined, and requirements for obtaining this professional degree and licensure will be discussed.
