Jennifer Vincenzo, a University of Arkansas doctoral student studying exercise science, recently received an Adopt-A-Doc Award for 2014 from the American Physical Therapy Association’s Section on Geriatrics.

Vincenzo is conducting research into older adults’ functional fitness and balance with Michelle Gray, assistant professor of exercise science. Vincenzo will finish her coursework in the U of A doctoral program in the summer and start her dissertation this fall. She is a physical therapist and teaches in the physical therapy assistant program at NorthWest Arkansas Community College.

The award recognizes outstanding doctoral students committed to geriatric physical therapy. It provides monetary support of $2,000 and a mentor to assist the doctoral students. Vincenzo also won an Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization award at the 66th Gerontological Society of America annual scientific meeting in November.
