Applications for three Associated Student Government Senate vacancies are now available. All seats are at-large vacancies, meaning students from any college can apply. Application packets can be downloaded from asg.uark.edu or picked up in the office of student activities, ARKU A665.

“As student leaders at Arkansas, we need to create a strong representative body which recognizes its obligation to uphold tradition while vigilantly looking for opportunities to improve our campus. Creating this body begins with students making the choice to get involved in ASG,” said Amy May West, Chair of the Senate.

Vacant seats in ASG Senate are filled with a spring at-large election. Students do not run by college of enrollment; instead, all students vote for all candidates that appear on one ballot. Applications are open to all University of Arkansas students who meet co-curricular requirements.

Senate vacancy applications are due by noon on Friday, Jan. 17. In addition to applying through the online process, candidates are also required to attend one of two mandatory candidate orientation meetings. These meetings are set for at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 15 and Jan. 16 in Arkansas Union 504.

Spring 2014 ASG Senate vacancy at-large elections will be conducted Jan. 26-29, beginning at 9 a.m. Jan. 26 and ending at 4 p.m. Jan. 29.

Any questions in regards to Senate duties should be sent to Chair of Senate Amy May West at asgsen@uark.edu. Questions about the election and process should be sent to Elections Commissioner Jeff Martin at asgjudcl@uark.edu.
