FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Steven C. Ricke, director of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Center for Food Safety, has been reappointed to serve on the Food Safety Scientific Advisory Council of United Egg Producers.

United Egg Producers is a national cooperative of egg farmers from across the U.S. representing the ownership of about 99 percent of the nation’s egg-laying hens. Its food safety-related activities have included efforts to reduce Salmonella on the farm and within laying flocks.

“I look forward to my continued involvement in providing Salmonella expertise on this important scientific council to offer advice and commentary on critical aspects of table egg and food safety issues to this group,” Ricke said. “It is this type of activity that helps to make continued advancements in improving food safety in the U.S. food supply.”

Ricke also holds the Donald C. “Buddy” Wray Endowed Chair in Food Safety at the university and has delivered numerous lectures on Salmonella issues, including recent presentations at an international seminar in Colombia and at a national research institute in China.
