MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer

The University of Arkansas Computer Store is pleased to announce the newest product offering they have available for in store use and purchase, a MakerBot Replicator 3D Printer. Come see the newest printing technology on campus, only at the U of A Computer Store.

3D printing, also called additive manufacturing, means making things layer by layer according to a 3D design file. This differs from traditional manufacturing, such as machining, which often involves subtracting a material in order to achieve a certain shape. 3D printers have a history of being very large and expensive; however, MakerBots top-of-the-line 3D printers are made, priced, and sized for the desktop. The MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer measures 38 x 49 x 32 centimeter (14.7 x 19.1 x 12.8 inch), making it ideal for a workspace or tabletop at home or in the office.

MakerBot, a subsidiary of Stratasys Ltd., is leading the Next Industrial Revolution by setting the standards in reliable and affordable desktop 3D printing. Founded in 2009, MakerBot has built the largest installed base of desktop 3D printers sold to innovative and industry-leading customers worldwide, including engineers, architects, designers, educators and consumers. MakerBot has been honored with many accolades, including Popular Mechanics’ “Overall Winner” for best 3D printer, Time Magazine’s “Best Inventions of 2012,” Popular Mechanics’ “Editor’s Choice Award,” Popular Science’s “Product of the Year,” Fast Company’s “One of the World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Consumer Electronics,” and many more.

The new MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer, the company’s fourth-generation machine, sets new standards for resolution, build volume, speed, ease of use, and affordability.

To learn more about pricing and capabilities of the MakerBot Replicator 3D Printer, stop by the Computer Store at 616 N. Garland Avenue across from the Northwest Quad.
