University Human Resources to Provide Webinar on Flexible Spending Accounts

Have you heard people talk about Flexible Spending Accounts but aren't sure exactly what they are or how to use one? In a nutshell, Flexible Spending Accounts let you set aside tax-exempt payroll dollars for eligible out-of-pocket healthcare and dependent (day) care or adult/elder care expenses.

Since you're setting aside before-tax dollars, these accounts lower your taxable income, resulting in savings for you! For benefits-eligible employees at the university, open enrollment for this benefit is currently happening but it ends on Friday, Dec. 6.

To provide detailed information and answer any questions employees may have about this benefit, Human Resources is providing a webinar at noon Thursday, Dec. 5. To participate in this webinar, join the Blackboard Collaborate session and log in using your first and last name. If you plan on participating in this webinar, please enroll at the Employee Development Training Calendar.

The webinar will specifically cover how the plans work, how to estimate your eligible expenses, and how to utilize the benefit card that health care participants will receive.
