Ruben S. Martin, president and chief executive officer of Martin Midstream Partners, will speak to the Capitalism and Global Supply Chains class at the University of Arkansas on Nov. 18.

Earning his bachelor's degree in industrial management from the University of Arkansas in 1974, Martin joined Martin Resource Management Corp. He performed various roles within the company until he was appointed president in 1981. When Martin Midstream Partners formed in 2002, Martin served as a member of the board of directors and as president and chief executive officer.

The supply chain management department of the Sam M. Walton College of Business will host Martin at 3:05 p.m. in room WCOB 244. The Capitalism and Global Supply Chains class is taught by Wes Kemp, executive in residence in supply chain management and former chief executive officer at ABF Freight System, alongside Jason Arentz, an adjunct instructor for the course.

In 2004, Martin's mother, Margaret Gerig Martin, donated $100,000 to create a doctoral fellowship to recruit highly qualified doctoral candidates to Walton College. Martin's father, R.S. Martin, also attended the University of Arkansas and was involved in the Kappa Sigma fraternity and played for the Razorback band. Amy Farmer, a Walton College economics professor, holds the Margaret Gerig and R.S. Martin Jr. Chair in Business.

The talk is open to all, but seating is limited and those wishing to attend should contact Jennifer Quinton in the department of supply chain management at 575-7674 or email jquinton@walton.uark.edu.
