Global Campus to Offer Project Management Certificate Program to University Employees
Registration is open for a five-session, 20-hour certificate program beginning in November to help University of Arkansas employees gain practical tools and learn new technologies to help them manage small to mid-sized projects.
Industry experts will teach the “Managing Projects” professional development program that focuses on the best practice principles of project management. The program is designed for all professionals, regardless of work environment, who seek to upgrade their practical skills in managing and completing projects.
The five sessions are set from 1 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays from Nov. 5 to Dec. 10. The first session on SharePoint Project Management templates will be held at the Administrative Services Building, ADSB 154. The remaining four sessions will be held at the Arkansas Union in room 516. Sessions will include practical references, case studies, online learning materials, and an introduction to project technologies.
The cost to U of A employees is $590, and online registration is available at http://globalcampus.uark.edu/register. The registration deadline is Nov. 1. Participants can earn 20 hours of recertification credit from the Human Resource Certification Institute.
Successful participants will earn a certificate of completion from the Global Campus. A final project must be completed and presented to a panel of instructors: Beverly Edens, David Moody, Jeff Amerine and Rick Teague.
Edens is part of the Network Client Services’ SharePoint team at the University of Arkansas Information Technology Services Department. Along with Microsoft SharePoint, she has experience in disaster recovery planning and systems administration. Beverly received her bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas in 2005.
Moody has degrees in Public Administration from the University of Central Arkansas (Honors) and the University of Houston. He joined the federal service through the Presidential Management Internship Program and worked for NASA and in the aerospace industry for 14 years. During that time he served as a program analyst, manager and consultant for the Shuttle, Space Lab and Space Station programs. Since leaving the aerospace industry, Moody has owned and operated several businesses in the fields of risk management, retail and business consulting. As a business consultant focused on startup and technology businesses, he was worked with a variety companies to commercialize products and services in the areas of nanotechnology, biotechnology, medical devices, computer science and energy technology.
Amerine teaches entrepreneurship at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas and serves as a consultant to the state program, “Innovate Arkansas,” which is chartered with the creation and support of a knowledge-based economy in Arkansas. He spent 18 years in industry, building technology businesses. Teague works with the Global Campus Professional Development Programs.
Teague is a Human Resources Generalist with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and holds the SHRM Certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. He has 35 years HRM experience working with three of Fortune 100s most admired Companies, McKesson, Nestle and Raytheon. In April 2013, Teague launched a new HRO, Human Resources Organization known as TransAmericas Human Resources, LLC to provide fundamental human resources programs for small to medium sized businesses in North America, Latin America, and South America.
