Today U of A students, faculty, staff and alumni will be engaged in service in the Arkansas Delta with Marvell-Elaine High School students to build an outdoor classroom on their campus.

Dream B.I.G. (Believing in Girls) mentors and student coordinators of have traveled to the Arkansas Delta for a weekend of service and an opportunity to reconnect with last year’s Dream B.I.G. mentees and engage in service in the Delta.

"When your school is beautiful you are more excited about going every day, so this day of service project will be fun for the volunteers and great for the community," said Taylor Coopers, Dream B.I.G. student coordinator and sophomore in the Sam M. Walton College of Business.

Projects will be led by Lisa Wood, instructor for soil and environmental science in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, and Maci Edwards, event services manager for the Arkansas Union.

A generous grant from the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation funds the first Dream B.I.G. Day of Service to build an outdoor classroom at Marvell-Elaine High School.
