This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Oct. 4-11
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The first week of October is filled with opportunities for music, art and theatre. The entire community is encouraged to attend these on-campus and off-campus events featuring faculty and students in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.
The Clean House opens Friday, Oct. 4, in the University Theatre. Performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday until Oct. 13.
The University of Arkansas Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Walton Arts Center.
Tuesday, Oct. 8, the University of Arkansas Choral Arts in Concert will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Walton Arts Center. Tickets are $1 for students with a valid University of Arkansas ID and $5 for general admission.
The University Trumpet Studio will give a recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
Guest artist Chie Fueki will give a lecture at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in room 213 of the Fine Arts Center.
Also on Oct. 10, the Fulbright Trio will perform in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Kathleen Maurer and Moon-Sook Park will give a faculty voice recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. They will be joined by Johan Botes on piano.
The play 4,000 Miles presented by Theatre Squared continues at Nadine Baum Studios. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday until Oct. 13.
Paint, Pixels and Process, an invitational group exhibition showcasing work by adjunct and visiting faculty in the department of art, continues in the sUgAR Gallery on the basement level of One East Square Plaza.
A printmaking exhibit by Anna Tsantir may be seen in the Fine Arts Center hallway exhibition cases until Friday, Oct. 18. The display also features books created by students who participated in the 2013 Art in Rome program
Resplendent, an exhibition in the Fine Arts Center Gallery, continues until Friday, Oct. 11. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
