FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Global Campus professional development network will offer a workshop in October to prepare human resource professionals to become organizational strategic business partners.

“We are hearing more and more demand for courses to help professionals earn a seat at the executive table,” explained Judith Tavano, director of the professional development network at Global Campus facility in Rogers. “This class is designed to provide the knowledge and skills professionals are seeking.”

Global Campus plans to offer more such courses in 2014.

The professional development network recently moved to the Global Campus facility in Rogers, Suite 402, in the Pinnacle One Building, 3300 Market St. Details about this workshop, online registration, and other programs are available on the website.

“How to Be a Human Resource Strategic Business Partner: an Overview of Strategic HR Leadership” will be offered from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22. Participants can attend the face-to-face class at the Global Campus facility in Rogers or online via Blackboard Collaborate. The cost is $49.

Cynthia Y. Thompson – principal and founder of a human resources consulting company in Memphis, The Thompson HR Firm LLC – is the instructor for this class. It is designed to help position participants as strategic business partners in organizations by increasing their business acumen. Participants will learn to identify the business skills needed to be an effective human resource business partner, recognize common budgeting methods used today, understand the tools used to measure an organization’s financial health, and create effective business cases for human resource initiatives.

Thompson is a senior human resources executive with more than 20 years of experience concentrated in publically traded companies. She is also the publisher and editor of HR Professionals Magazine.

This class is the latest addition to a list of programs and workshops offered by the professional development network. Contact Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs, at jtavano@uark.edu or 479-464-5024 for information or to schedule customized training sessions.
