FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas undergraduates who are looking for academic advice can now find assistance in the Arkansas Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Academic and student success advisers are keeping office hours at the information desk in the Arkansas Union’s living room. Advisers will answer questions related to academic topics and refer students to the appropriate offices for additional information and help as needed.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide this service,” said Karen Hodges, executive director of the office of academic success. “The Union staff has been very gracious to share their space, and we think that it will encourage students to ask questions and seek help when they otherwise might not.”

Advisers will also be able to help students solve problems and answer questions like:

  • When is the last day to drop a class?
  • Will I lose my scholarship if I drop a class?
  • Can I take an online class?
  • Can I go to summer school back home?
  • How do I change my major?
  • Can I have two majors in two different colleges?
  • Why do I have a hold on my account?
  • I can't register – why won't the "system" let me?

Karen Hodges or Barbara Batson, of the office of academic success, will be on duty on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11-2. College advisers will be available on specific Thursdays from 11-2 on the following schedule:

  • J. William Fulbright College – Oct. 10, Nov. 21
  • College of Education and Health Professions – Oct. 17, Dec. 5
  • Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences – Oct. 24, Dec. 12
