Women's Giving Circle Voting Event Taking Place Soon
The fall voting event for the University of Arkansas Women's Giving Circle is approaching quickly and will be held on Friday, Sept. 27. This year, 51 grant proposals from across campus were submitted for funding consideration with 21 making it through to the second round of voting, which ended Sept. 5. The top 11 proposals will be presented at the Sept. 27 voting event and awardees will be announced at 1:30 p.m. that day. Current Women's Giving Circle members are encouraged to attend the event and cast their votes.
This year, in its 11th year of funding, Chancellor G. David Gearhart announced another match of up to $50,000 to increase the impact of the circle. With the goal of 100 members, dollars will be matched up to that amount, and the impact this year on the University of Arkansas campus and community will be well over $100,000 in grants.
The Women's Giving Circle was created in 2002 by the founding members of the Women and Philanthropy Committee of the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century. Since 2003, the circle has awarded more than $600,000 in grants to faculty and staff members from various departments and academic units at the university.
