UASuccess a New Online Appointment Scheduling and Retention Tool

Last week, the University of Arkansas released "UASuccess," a new online appointment scheduling and retention tool for faculty, staff and students.

To support students and increase retention and graduation rates, the university has contracted with Starfish Retention Solutions to adapt its Student Success and Retention Platform to the needs of this campus. Renamed "UASuccess" for our campus, the platform's two main systems – Connect and Early Alert – will help the campus community participate in student success through automating student tracking, early alert, online appointment scheduling, and assessment.

Through the Connect system, students can schedule online appointments with faculty, academic advisers, scholarship advisers, and other support offices on campus that are using UASuccess.  Faculty can use the online appointment scheduling feature to enter their office hours by appointment only or walk-in availability. This will also make it easier for students and advisers during priority registration to use the online scheduling system.

Once fully implemented, the academic Early Alert system will allow faculty and support staff to raise flags on students who appear to need additional help to be successful at the University of Arkansas. Faculty can raise flags that signal poor class attendance or unsatisfactory performance; they can also raise kudos to acknowledge students with outstanding academic performance or those who have shown continuous improvement. During the fall semester, the College Algebra faculty will be piloting raising flags and kudos through progress surveys for students enrolled in MATH 1203 and MATH 1204.

"UASuccess will increase communication between faculty, advisers, and other support staff with the goal to increase student success and persistence," said Ro DiBrezzo, vice provost for academic affairs. "Now when a faculty raises a flag about a student, the student and the appropriate support staff are notified. Notes, flags and kudos entered in UASuccess remain a part of the student's record even if they change majors."

Two of the key features for connecting students to the proper resources are the My Success Network and Success Network. The My Success Network displays the academic advisers and other key support staff for each individual student. The overall Success Network lists campus resources and contact information available to help students from advising offices, Academic Scholarships Office, Pat Walker Health Center, Quality Writing Center, Enhanced Learning Center, Career Center, and many more.  

We will be phasing in UASuccess over the next few semesters and expanding access to other support offices across campus.

Training is scheduled for faculty in each college on the following dates in Peabody Room 307:

• Fulbright: 8:30-9:30 a.m. Sept. 4 and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 5
• Education and Health Professions: 8:30-9:30 a.m. Sept. 11 and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 12
• Walton: 8:30-9:30 a.m. Sept. 18 and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 19
• Bumpers and Fay Jones: 8:30-9:30 a.m. Sept. 25 and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 26
• Engineering: 8:30-9:30 a.m. Oct. 2 and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 3
• Makeup Sessions: 8:30-9:30 a.m. Oct. 9 and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 10
