Wyrick Announces Leadership Change

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Chris Wyrick, vice chancellor for university advancement, announced today that John Diamond, associate vice chancellor for university relations in the Division of University Advancement, will be leaving the University of Arkansas at the end of September 2013. 

Roy Cordell, senior director of creative services and longtime university relations staff member, will serve as interim associate vice chancellor. 

"I am deeply grateful to Roy for stepping in at this critical moment and providing leadership and expertise as we move toward the public phase of Campaign Arkansas,” Wyrick said. “Roy is highly regarded across campus and by the university relations staff in particular. I wish Mr. Diamond the best in future endeavors and thank him for his service to the UA."

A national search for the associate vice chancellor position will begin immediately.

Update: Statement from Chris Wyrick, Vice Chancellor for Advancement

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., 6:48 p.m., Aug. 23 – University of Arkansas Vice Chancellor for Advancement Chris Wyrick released the following statement Friday afternoon:

“Mr. John Diamond was terminated from employment with the University of Arkansas today, with 30 days notice.

“The reasons for his termination are contained in correspondence Mr. Diamond received from me today.

“The university informed Mr. Diamond that it believes the correspondence is subject to release under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. In response Mr. Diamond declined to allow release of the documents and wishes to seek an opinion from the Arkansas Attorney General.

“Accordingly, the University of Arkansas cannot release the document until an Attorney General’s opinion is rendered or until Mr. Diamond gives his permission to release the documents.”
