Fall 2013 Supervisor Development Program Registration Now Available!

Good news! Registration for the fall 2013 semester cohort of the Supervisor Development Program is now available online. And another piece of good news: Beginning in fall 2013, the Supervisor Development Program is free to all university employees!

Because the program still consists of four hours a week out of the workday, supervisor approval is still needed to enroll. Enrollment is limited to 18 so hurry and register if you're interested in attending! Registration is available by following this link to the Employee Development Training Calendar.

If you're unfamiliar with the Supervisor Development Program, here's a bit of information. The program is offered semi-annually by Human Resources' Employee Development Program in an effort to respond to new supervisors' training needs quickly and effectively. The goal of the Supervisor Development Program is to promote excellence in selecting and managing the University's work force.

The curriculum is designed to educate participants about the skills, knowledge and resources needed to be effective in leading and coaching other employees, while maintaining compliance with federal and state laws and with University procedures. A wide range of topics will be offered including: Foundations of Supervision, Legal Issues and Concepts, Managing Employee Performance, the Employment Process, Compensation & Benefits, Safety in the Workplace, Workers' Compensation, Violence in the Workplace and much more!

The Fall 2013 Supervisor Development Program begins Sept. 10. The program consists of 50 hours of classroom participation (10 four-hour sessions meeting each Tuesday through Nov. 19, and five additional sessions to be attended outside the Supervisor Development Program format.) Regular Supervisor Development Program sessions will be held at the Arkansas Union from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The sessions will be held the following dates: Sept. 10, 17, 24; Oct. 1, 15, 22, 29; Nov. 5, 12, 19.

Attendance and cancellation policy: Because the Supervisor Development Program only consists of 10 sessions, it is mandatory that participants attend every session. If you know you will be unable to attend any of the dates below, please do not register for the program. The program runs every spring and fall semester, so you can always register for a later series.

Registration closes Friday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m.
