Purvis Lectures in China on American Politics and Policies

Hoyt Purvis, professor of journalism in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences visited China last month and made presentations explaining American politics and policies to Chinese students and scholars.
Purvis, who teaches in the Fulbright College international relations program, was invited by the Shanghai International Studies University and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies at Nanjing University. The invitations were handled through the U.S. consulate in Shanghai.
Purvis spoke to graduate students and met with students and faculty members at both schools, discussing current trends and developments in American politics and foreign policy, as well as U.S.-China relations.
“I have traveled to China with some regularity over the past 34 years, and during that time I have seen dramatic changes in China,” said Purvis. “On this trip I was impressed by the level of interest in and knowledge about American politics and policies among the Chinese students.”
