Graduate School Announces 2013 Collis R. Geren Award Winners
Todd G. Shields, dean of the Graduate School and International Education, awarded the 2013 Collis R. Geren awards for excellence in graduate education to Randy Brown, Julie Rogers, Michael Rau and Mary Margaret Hui at a recent awards ceremony.
The awards were initiated in honor of Collis R. Geren, who retired as dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for research in 2010.
For their commitment to graduate education awards were given to:
- Randy Brown, electrical engineering, university faculty award.
- Julie Rogers, registrar’s office, UA staff award.
- Michael Rau, Graduate School, UA Graduate School staff award.
- This year a special award was given to Mary Margaret Hui, doctoral student in higher education. Hui serves on the Graduate Dean's Student Advisory Board and is a Graduate Student Ambassador in addition to her many other campus activities.
In recognizing this year’s awardees, Shields noted their exceptional work on behalf of graduate students and expressed appreciation to all staff in the Graduate School and International Education. About 200 faculty, staff and graduate students enjoyed the cookout fare.
