Betty Pliler to Retire After Nearly 30 Years

Betty Pliler has been helping students, faculty, and staff at the University of Arkansas for the last 29 years through her work in the office of the registrar. She will be retiring this month and taking her famous “staple hog” home with her. 

Betty joined the office of the registrar staff in 1984 and has contributed in every area of the operation.  For the last 10 years, she has assisted with graduation application and degree-clearance processes.  During this period, she has helped post degrees and mail diplomas to over 40,000 students. 

“Students who visit the office experience Betty’s warm smile, caring spirit, and excellent service. She likes students and she knows how important graduation is to them,” said Dave Dawson, associate vice provost for enrollment services and registrar. They also enjoy her “staple hog,” a Razorback molded from staples that Betty began working on 15 years ago.

Everyone is invited to celebrate Betty’s contributions to our campus at a reception 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, in the Tour Room on the second floor of Hunt Hall.  Please join us in thanking Betty for her service and wishing her the best in retirement.
