Artifacts and Thangkas From the Tibetan Cultural Institute

The University of Arkansas Libraries will host a display of artifacts and thangkas from the Tibetan Cultural Institute in the Walton Reading Room in Mullins Library. Admission is free and open to the public.
A thangka is a complicated, composite three-dimensional object consisting of a painted or embroidered picture panel illustrating deities and natural scenes, usually from the life of Buddha. Some of the thangkas in the exhibit are more than 600 years old.
May 11 (Saturday): Opening Ceremony for the Thangka Exhibit in Mullins Library from 4-6 p.m. Lama Karma will perform the Black Hat Dance.
May 13 (Monday): Thangka Lecture given by Geshe la in Mullins Library from 6-7:30 p.m. Geshe la will discuss the thangkas on exhibit.
May 18 (Saturday): Thangka Lecture given by Geshe la in Mullins Library from 3-5 p.m.
June 1 (Saturday): Closing Ceremony for the Thangka Exhibit in Mullins Library. Lama Karma will perform the ritual Black Hat Dance.
