Rachel Schluterman Selected as April's Student Leader of the Month

Senior Rachel Schluterman has been selected as the Student Leader of the Month for April. Originally from Charleston, Ark., Rachel came to the University of Arkansas to major in mathematics.

Rachel currently serves as a Reid Hall Resident Assistant, University Housing Summer Conferences Coordinator, and a member of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity.

When asked why she got involved these organizations, Rachel said, "Making new friendships and memories each year initially attracted me to all of these organizations, but I stayed because of the differences I could make. With Alpha Phi Omega, I have the opportunity to give back to the community and campus on a weekly basis while doing things that I love. In Housing, I get to develop programs and outreach to students on topics that are important to them."

Rachel recognizes three individuals at the University of Arkansas as her mentors, stating that "Dr. Heather Schneller, Danielle Dunn, and Tamika Wordlow all showed me how to be an independent thinker and pushed me to achieve any goal."

The Student Leader of the Month award, sponsored by New Student & Family Programs, recognizes University of Arkansas undergraduate students for their excellence in leadership through campus involvement, leadership activities, or through volunteer and community service.
