Autism Spectrum Disorders Symposium Set for May 16-17

Mark Sundberg, author and expert in verbal behavioral milestones for children with autism spectrum disorders, is the featured speaker at this year's Autism Spectrum Disorders Symposium set for May 16-17 at the University of Arkansas Global Campus in Fayetteville.

The College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas and the Arkansas Local Education Resource Network are presenting the symposium for educators, other professionals, students and families of children with autism spectrum disorders.

Cost is $189 for educators and other professionals; $75 for students and families. Professional development hours are available. You may register online at https://www.waltoncollege.uark.edu/qp/EventRegistrations/UASymposim.asp.

Sundberg's presentation is titled "Using the VB-MAPP to Guide a Verbal Behavior Intervention Program for Children with Autism." He is the author of  the VB-MAPP and the co-author of the books Teaching Language to Children with Autism or Other Developmental Disabilities, The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills: The ABLLS, and A Collection of Reprints on Verbal Behavior

The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) is a criterion-referenced assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skill tracking system that is designed for children with autism, and other individuals who demonstrate language delays. The VB-MAPP provides a baseline level of performance, a direction for intervention, a system for tracking skill acquisition, a tool for outcome measures, and a framework for curriculum planning.
