Rwanda Students to Raise Awareness About 1994 Genocide
The Rwandan Student Body at the University of Arkansas will be sponsoring the third annual Rwanda Awareness Week from April 5 through April 11. This year's theme, Rising from the Ashes will be a three-day event. April 5 kicks off with a lecture on Rwanda's Recovery and the Role of Women; April 8 includes the screening of Rising from the Ashes by director and producer T.C. Johnstone; and Thursday, April 11, beginning at Holcombe at 3 p.m., the Rwandan Student Body will have a "Walk to Remember" in honor of the 1994 Genocide victims.
The purpose of this week is to raise awareness and share with the Northwest Arkansas community how the people of Rwanda are recovering miraculously from one of the most horrific atrocities of the 20th century.
