A group of engineering students who are members of the Arkansas Engineers Abroad student organization have a chance to be recognized by President Clinton as part of the Clinton Global Initiative, and you can help. You can vote for “Water Tower Construction and Clean Water Education in More Tomorrow, Belize Commitment” online at www.cgiu.org/bracket. You can vote as many times as you like. The first round of voting ends at 1 p.m. today.

The team is made up of three seniors, Cody LaBarber, Jake Pitts and Courtney Hill, along with junior Zach Bever, who made a commitment to bring clean water to the community of More Tomorrow, in Belize, by the end of the year. After construction is complete, they will train the local residents to properly use and maintain the tower.

The “Water Tower Construction and Clean Water Education in More Tomorrow, Belize Commitment” proposal was awarded $2,860 by the Clinton Global Initiative University given the additional recognition that comes with the online “Bracket” challenge.

The votes will be tallied and posted in real-time, and those not attending the event can follow the action at cgiu.org. The winning commitment will be announced at the closing plenary session of the Clinton Global Initiative University, which will feature Clinton and Colbert at 3:30 p.m. CDT April 6. The session will also feature an interview with Clinton that will be taped to air in a special CGI University-themed episode of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report during the week of April 8, as well as a Q&A session with students in attendance.
