University Recreation Set to Host RIPPED Certification Course

University Recreation is set to host over 25 group fitness instructors from the tri-state area at a RIPPED certification from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Cost is $239.

During the eight-hour course, participants are introduced to a highly effective approach to high intensity training with a format that is easy to follow, straight forward to teach, and that reflects the philosophies of RIPPED Participants will learn the key elements that correlate to the RIPPED system and basic sports conditioning exercises that apply across all fitness levels. Paying special attention to injury cause and prevention, the class format includes interval training, mixed martial arts, resistance and plyometrics, all while delving into the relationship between movement and music.

Participants will leave equipped, understanding how to successfully plan, implement and teach a safe and effective group fitness class combining a high intensity weight and cardiovascular training program.

UREC will also be hosting a RIPPED Master Class from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in HPER 220. UREC members are welcome to participate in this free class taught by one of the RIPPED National Master Trainers. 

Participants will receive the following on the day of the training:
  • RIPPED instructor training manual
  • RIPPED instructional training DVD, music soundtrack CD, and choreography notes.
  • ACE (0.8), AFAA (6.75) NASM (0.8), BCRPA (7) CEC's/CEU's
  • Free access to the RIPPED diet and nutrition site.
  • RIPPED Certificate of Completion to teach anywhere.
  • Discounted RIPPED merchandise at the training.
