IT Services Evaluating Replacement for emPower

IT Services has been informed that OpenText will discontinue development of emPower (also known on campus as NetFYI). Within three to five years, emPower will no longer be supported by OpenText, which purchased emPower as part of their Global360 acquisition in 2011.

IT Services has begun a review and evaluation process of document management and workflow products to replace emPower. A working group of current users will be invited to evaluate new products, and user feedback will be encouraged during the evaluation process. The goal is to choose a system that supports university users and meets the technical requirements of the university infrastructure.

Existing emPower projects will continue to be supported, and IT Services will ensure transition to a new system once one is in place.
