Global Campus Instructors Become Master Certified in Microsoft Office 2010 Applications

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two instructors who teach Microsoft application classes at the University of Arkansas Global Campus received the highest Certiport certifications this month and are now recognized as Microsoft Office 2010 Master Certified.

Mike Sypult, director of computer training services at the Global Campus, and Starlyn Danley, an instructor, became master certified in January in the Microsoft Office 2010 applications that they teach, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Both held expert-level certification prior to reaching the master level.

“Our clients benefit by receiving training from instructors who have the highest credentials offered by Microsoft,” Sypult said. “We are technically skilled to efficiently use the breadth of the applications’ features, and we train others so that they can increase their productivity. That translates into enhanced profitability for the clients we serve.”

Online registration and a list of computer training classes offered by the Global Campus in Fayetteville and Rogers are available at http://training.uark.edu.

The master certification is the capstone of the Microsoft Office Specialist certifications offered by Certiport, a company that provides career-oriented certification solutions to academic institutions and information technology professions. Certiport is the world leader in performance-based certification exams and practice test solutions for academic institutions, workforce and corporate technology markets.

Sypult and Danley teach open-enrollment classes in Fayetteville and Rogers, and provide on-site customized training workshops for businesses and organizations, using a mobile computer lab.

Sypult began work at the Global Campus in November 2000. As the director of computer training services today, Sypult’s primary responsibility is to plan, develop, customize, coordinate and implement computer training programs for organizations, schools, businesses and industries throughout Arkansas and the surrounding region.

With over 20 years of experience as a computer training specialist, Sypult developed customized computer application training programs for both private and public organizations across the State of Arkansas and in South America. He frequently conducts technology presentations for the Sam M. Walton College of Business M.B.A. program, as well as for various professional conferences regionally. One of Sypult’s responsibilities is to provide Microsoft Windows and Office training for the J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ corporate headquarters in Northwest Arkansas.

Danley has been involved with computer technology instruction since 1996 in both corporate and academic environments. She has provided end-user solutions for organizations such as Sandia National Laboratories, various district attorney offices, public school districts, the mortgage and investment industry, and others. Danley developed training solutions for proprietary software to maximize process efficiencies and communication between technology and business users. Her experience provides knowledge and understanding of technology in the constantly changing business environment.

The Global Campus collaborates with academic colleges and schools, businesses and organizations to provide development and computer training classes for business professionals.
