Picasolar Logo Contest Offers Students Chance to Win $249 Prize
Picasolar, a University of Arkansas student-created solar startup, is looking for students to help create a unique and eye-catching logo for the company. Students can be a part of the contest by either creating and submitting a logo or by voting on designs submitted by others. The designer of the winning logo will receive a $249 prize.
Picasolar offers technology to solar cell manufacturers that can reduce silver costs by 33 percent and increase efficiency by 15 percent.
The logo should focus on communicating the company’s solar cell efficiency increase, the silver reduction cost savings, the fact that the process requires only tap water and how Picasolar will make a difference to the solar industry. The target market is solar cell manufacturers, particularly manufacturers using n-type solar cell technologies.
Picasolar is a business-to-business technology company, selling primarily to companies rather than individuals. The company’s main customers, officials responsible for purchase decisions, would have a high amount of technology education, likely a doctorate in a field related to solar energy, solar technology or material science.
The contest ends at midnight on Feb. 11. To enter the contest, go to the LogoArena website and create a free logoarena account to upload a logo. The site also gives additional details concerning preferred logo colors, symbols and where the logo will be used.
Picasolar earned first place at the 2013 IBK Capital-Ivey Business Plan Competition, held Jan. 25-26 at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. The team received a cash award of $20,000 and an invitation to the Venture Labs Investment Competition at the University of Texas at Austin in May, which bills itself as the “Super Bowl of business competitions.”
