Nominate Someone Today for Employee of the 2nd Quarter

Faculty and staff are invited and encouraged to nominate staff employees in recognition of outstanding service to the University for the second quarter; October, November, and December. You can download a nomination form from http://staffsenate.uark.edu/EOQ_Nomination.pdf or request a nomination form by contacting Kelly Carter at eoq@uark.edu. The deadline for nomination submission for Employee of the 2nd Quarter is Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Each quarter, five outstanding University of Arkansas employees (classified or non-classified) are selected as Employee of the Quarter representing one of each of the following five categories with a sample of job titles to give a sense of staff members in that category: 

  • Category I: Professional/Non-faculty – Administrative
    Some recent qualifying titles have included: Project/Program Specialist, Project/Program Director, Project/Program Manager, Computer Support Specialist, Fiscal Support Analyst, Administrative Analyst, Post Doctoral Associate, Research Associate.
  • Category I: Professional/Non-faculty – Academic
    Some recent qualifying titles have included: Academic Counselor, Project/Program Specialist, Project/Program Director, Project/Program Manager, Director.
  • Category II: Secretarial/Clerical
    Some recent qualifying titles have included: Administrative Support Supervisor, Administrative Specialist II, Administrative Specialist III
  • Category III:  Technical/Paraprofessional
    Some recent qualifying titles have included: Fiscal Support Specialist, Systems Analyst, Fiscal Support Specialist, Library Supervisor, Research Technologist
  • Category IV:  Skilled Crafts/Service/Maintenance
    Some recent qualifying titles have included: Skilled Tradesman, Institutional Service Assistant, Institutional Bus Driver 

Eligibility for nomination:

  • All regularly appointed staff are eligible for nomination.
  • Nominees must have been employed by the U of A for at least one year.
  • Employees must be nominated by a peer, co-worker, or supervisor. Self-nominations are not accepted or recognized. 
  • Any employee who has been selected as an Employee of the Quarter within the last three years is not eligible.

Employees of the Year are selected from the candidates that have been chosen as Employees of the Quarter throughout the year.

The Staff Senate is also accepting applications for the Outstanding Staff Team Award. This award recognizes outstanding staff members who work together as a team on the University of Arkansas campus. The purpose of the award is to applaud outstanding staff accomplishments as well as encourage and promote excellence in the work place.

The team award recognizes performance for the previous calendar year. The outstanding team effort may be a result of a specific project or it may be the performance of the normal duties of an organizational unit. Eligible teams will be comprised of University of Arkansas staff employees who are 100 percent appointed at the Fayetteville campus and may be classified, non-classified, or a combination of both who have worked together to promote the mission of the university. The Outstanding Staff Team will receive a cash award totaling $2,500.
