Don’t Get Ripped Off: Tips from UAPD

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Anyone on campus can be the victim of a thief any time of the year – but University of Arkansas Police warn that the greatest number of thefts happen during the final days of the semester. Students tend to be stressed and distracted as they write papers and prepare for finals – and criminals know it, and are looking for opportunities.

The good news is University Police say there are simple precautions students – and anyone on campus – can take to protect their property from thieves: 

Keep doors locked at all times. Don’t make it easy to be a victim.

Never leave property unattended in public places. All personal items have value and can be stolen.

Do not leave valuable items in your vehicle. Theft from a motor vehicle is one of the most common types of theft.

Immediately report any suspicious activity. You can make a difference in preventing crimes.
