Director of Ayn Rand Institute to Speak to Walton College Class

Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute, will speak to a class of supply chain management students at the University of Arkansas on Nov. 28.

Brook is the president of the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights and executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute. Brook speaks internationally on the causes of the financial crisis, the morality of capitalism and ending the growth of the state. He is a columnist at Forbes.com, and his articles have appeared in major publications such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Investor’s Business Daily. Brook is often interviewed on radio and is a frequent guest on national TV programs. 

The supply chain management department at the University of Arkansas is hosting the appearance by Brook, who will speak to a class taught by Jason Arentz, an adjunct instructor in supply chain management, and Wes Kemp, executive in residence in the supply chain management department and retired president and chief executive officer of ABF Freight System.

In addition to addressing the class, Brook will sign copies of the new book he co-authored, Free Market Revolution: How Ayn Rand’s Ideas Can End Big Government, which was released in September. Brook also will be signing copies of the book at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Rogers on Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Brook was born and raised in Israel. He served as a first sergeant in Israeli military intelligence and earned a degree in civil engineering from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. In 1987 he moved to the United States, where he received his master of business administration degree and Ph.D. in finance from the University of Texas at Austin. For seven years, Brook was an award-winning finance professor at Santa Clara University. In 1998, he cofounded a financial advisory firm, BH Equity Research, of which he is presently managing director and chairman.
