Men’s Soccer Club to Host OU in Playoff Match
The Men’s Soccer Club will host the University of Oklahoma A
Side in a playoff game for the Oklahoma Collegiate Club Soccer League at 1 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 10, at the UREC Sports Complex. This will be the
first home playoff game in four years, and a win will put them in the
championship game at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.
In order to celebrate the game, the event will be a blackout with all fans encouraged to wear black. Free pizza provided by Larry’s Pizza-Fayetteville and will be available while supplies last.
“The club has grown increasingly competitive over the past few years and with a playoff game at home, it give us a great opportunity to win our second OCCSL title,” said Shawn Hohendorf, club president. “By winning this weekend, the club will have accomplished its goal and will be able to represent the University at a more competitive level.”
The Club Sports program will also be collecting non-perishable food at the event on Saturday in conjunction with the Club Sports Food Drive. Food collected that is donated on behalf of a specific club will earn clubs points and all food will be donated to the Full Circle Campus Food Pantry.
Next week the Men’s Soccer Club will travel to Memphis, Tenn., to compete in the NCCS NIRSA National Soccer Championship. This will be the club’s first appearance at the national tournament.
