Food collected from 2011 drive

For the second time, the Club Sports program in the department of University Recreation is hosting a food drive supporting the Full Circle Campus Food Pantry. Last year, Club Sports collected 1,171 pounds of food and the program hopes to increase this number this year.

“The food drive is a great way for students, faculty and staff to give back to their community that supports them so much,” said Shannon Dere, assistant director of University Recreation for Club Sports

The drive will take place from Nov. 1 through Nov. 20, and anyone (regardless of their affiliation with Club Sports) can donate. All donations will be collected at the UREC office (HPER 225) or at various tabling events in the Union. ‘Like’ the Club Sports Facebook page for specific dates and times.

Clubs will be competing to earn Razorback points that equate to dollar amounts for future funding. Anyone who makes a donation may do so on behalf of one of our 30 clubs and help them win the drive. Clubs will earn one point for every five pounds of food donated and the club with the most donations (based on pounds) will earn extra points.

The Full Circle Campus Food Pantry, which serves the Arkansas campus community in need, accepts all types of food as long as they have not expired and have not been pre-prepared. Items that the Pantry is in most need of are cereal, macaroni and cheese, snack items (crackers, pop-tarts, etc.), and holiday items (gravy, yams, etc.).
