Diversity Workshop: 'Privilege and Prejudice - Building Understanding & Creating Allies'

On Friday, Sept. 28, from 1-4 p.m., Anne Shelley, executive director of Your Media, will be on campus to teach a collaborative workshop titled "Privilege & Prejudice – Building Understanding and Creating Allies."

This interactive session is designed to deepen the participant's knowledge of stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and privilege. This workshop not only increases understanding, it engages participants to use that understanding to become allies in creating a more inclusive and accessible campus environment. This session will be held in the Pat Walker Health Center, Room 283 and will fulfill requirements for the socioeconomic status area of the Diversity Certificate Program. Anne is the former executive director of Just Communities of Northwest Arkansas whose mission was to fight bias, bigotry and racism through education and advocacy. She has years of experience working with diversity and inclusion. Anne is the current executive director of Your Media, the operating name for Community Access Television Inc. She also works as a contract trainer and Ourtown for Teens director for Just Communities of Arkansas out of Little Rock.
